A true insider’s secret is our very own speakeasy, the Lookout Dining Room. The perfect place for a sunset cocktail with friends, our in-the-round hideaway replicates the design of William Holden’s Mt. Kenya safari lodge and features authentic décor from his estate. Another insider’s secret: the actor from Sunset Boulevard, The Bridge on the River Kwai, and Network was a Club member!

Our tennis facility has been recently renovated, and we’ve added a number of pickleball courts to take advantage of the nation’s most fun and fastest-growing racquet sport. We also have a health and fitness program featuring a variety of group or individual classes.

Our roots run deep in the history of Palm Desert. We opened in 1970 as the Del Safari Country Club, offering the region’s only authentic Midwestern golf experience.

Avondale Golf Club’s unique course design has stood the test of time...and now stands apart from other Desert clubs.

We’re one of the region’s classically intimate clubs—small enough to know every member, and large enough for you and your guests to enjoy our spacious and relaxing setting. 

This is also a place where tee times are easy to arrange, and you can always get a game.

Avondale is famous for our traditional Friday horseraces, ‘Thursday Delight’ golf scramble and social, a strong calendar of men’s events—and perhaps the most active ladies’ golf program in the Desert.

These activities and even more are great ways to spend time with others who share a passion for golf and appreciate the natural camaraderie that surrounds this game.

Avondale members enjoy 18 holes of pure golf played across a majesty of wide tree-lined fairways, left and right bunkers, stunning water features and contoured greens that unite in inventive layouts as part of a unique, walking-friendly Midwestern course designed by Jimmy Hines. 

Our par 72 championship course also features perhaps the three best finishing holes in the Valley, two Par 4s and a Par 5 that feature risks and rewards within a breathtaking setting. Avondale’s pristine, green course provides these singular moments as part of a truly relaxing, fully personal and richly challenging playing experience.
